McNinch House Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Ellen Davis, McNinch House's original chef, purchased this Queen Anne residence in 1978, and over the next decade restored the place as her abode and as a restaurant. The circa 1892 house had been the home of Charlotte mayor Sam McNinch, whose name still graces the establishment. Executive chef William Parham serves multi-course meals with careful attention to detail, right down to the chilled salad fork. Choose from four levels: Bistro (four courses), Petit (six courses), Grand (seven courses) and the Chef’s Tasting Menu (ten courses, requiring the participation of the entire table). Pre-priced wine pairings have been constructed to accompany each dish, and the wine list has notable depth and breadth. Parham’s cooking incorporates Southern influences, such as North Carolina red grouper and Georgia quail, and many dishes feature locally produced grass-fed beef and vegetables. An intermezzo refreshes the palate between two of the courses. Service is paced to allow patrons to enjoy each course --- no hurries here. The Tuesday through Thursday special is a three-course dinner for two with wine pairings for $115.50 per person.
