MEET in Paris Restaurant Review:
MEET in Paris is a very French bistro in the heart of Culver City, with the typical red and white checkered tablecloths with white paper on top, owned by husband and wife Sébastien and Cécile Cornic. Whether you are on the terrace or inside, the spaces are small and the atmosphere cozy. You may start with the soupe à l’oignon gratinée, a delicious and crispy tomato tarte Tatin or escargots à l’ail, and continue with grilled salmon or steak frites. But there is another reason to dine at MEET: for its mussels. Cornic, who hails from a family that operated seafood restaurants in Paris, offers more than a dozen different preparations, which range from the classic “marinières” to “Thai” (Indian curry, cumin, lemon grass, coconut milk). There is even one with Roquefort --- and surprisingly, it works! They are served by the pound or half pound with cute little french fries or a salad, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, “All you can eat mussels” start at $29.95. If you can’t decide between the homemade berry crumble or crème brûlée for dessert, choose the incredible, warm melting chocolate fondant. The wine list features mostly French selections; beers focus on Belgian and German offerings.
