Mitch's on El Paseo Prime Seafood Restaurant Review:

It’s not difficult to spot Mitch’s on El Paseo. Just look for a queue of luxury cars and the vintage marquee lights spelling out the restaurant’s name. Located in the former and more formal Augusta Restaurant home, Mitch’s offers a contemporary vibe. The split-level interior showcases much of the space, with a wall stacked with wine and smoked-glass accents. A sweeping staircase leads to the second level; its wraparound balcony and tables for two overlook the outdoor area, where seats are grouped around fire pits. Chef James Holder, who draws from his Japanese heritage, has created a menu of Pacific Rim specialties with plenty of fresh seafood, sushi and saké. Starters include black cod marinated in saké and served with grilled asparagus. Asian cioppino features daily fresh shellfish and fish that are pot roasted in a tomato-miso broth and seasoned with cilantro and lime; a shrimp and lobster dish comes with truffle fried rice and diced vegetables. Lunch is more casual, with an assortment of panini, pasta, burgers and salads. The wine list includes a handful of “old reds,” and the saké menu seems never-ending. Among desserts is an unexpected chocolate spring roll. Did we mention Mitch’s boasts two scene-worthy bars?
