Momos Ouzaria Taverna Restaurant Review:
Momos’ daytime crowd isn’t much into sharing; its business lunchers stick mostly to steak kebab or spinach salads and lamb gyros. But come dinner, communal appetizers and mezzes proliferate, from basic spreads like tzatziki and hummus to dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice and meat), flambéed cheese and char-grilled octopus. Vegetarian-friendly stars include the chickpea-and-feta cake, followed by the three-cheese spanakopita, baked Brie and falafel. For those who prefer their own entrée, a good choice is the shell pasta with artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes in a creamy marinara. Momos’ libations are a lesson in Greek mythology. Zeus is a gin martini, Atlas is a Manhattan, and Momos, the god of satire and mockery, is a cosmopolitan. All are a fitting accompaniment to the belly dancers, appearing around 7:30 p.m.
