Morton's The Steakhouse, Houston, TX

Morton's The Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

This comfortably polished branch of the Chicago-born steakhouse chain makes you feel right at home from the minute you enter the warmly lit entry. Despite its strip-center location, you might feel as if you’ve reentered the Sinatra Rat Pack era. First, hit the cozy, inviting bar and stick to the classics by ordering a real martini, the kind made with gin, vermouth and an olive, which Morton’s delivers just right. Move on to the cushy dining room with private banquettes and an open kitchen. Expect various cuts of aged USDA Prime beef, brought to your table for viewing before you order. Choose to enjoy your steak naked or smothered in béarnaise, beurre blanc or diablo sauces. Other staples include such traditional dishes as shrimp cocktail, asparagus drenched in hollandaise and mile-high cheesecake. But the kitchen mixes it up with novelties like the bacon-wrapped scallops appetizer with apricot chutney or a Cajun rib-eye. Morton’s has private lockers available to safeguard your coveted wines.
