Nam Phuong Restaurant Review:

Named for the last queen of Vietnam, Nam Phuong offers an extensive menu of Vietnamese cuisine in a casual atmosphere. Start with crêpes, thin pancakes that come with shrimp and pork and fresh greens; the order is enough for at least two people to share. We also like the wonton soup and the green papaya salad, the latter flecked with shrimp and chicken. (A vegetarian version with tofu is available.) Classic Vietnamese shaking beef with fresh watercress and tomatoes is another winner. Desserts are limited, but you could go for one of the traditional smoothies. We decided on adventure and ordered the durian, which tasted rather like onion and garlic combined; next time we'll go for mango. Beer and wine are offered at this location, but not at the smaller outpost at 4051 Buford Hwy., 404-633-2400.
