Nando's Peri-Peri Restaurant Review:

When this South African restaurant group first landed in DC, its Penn Quarter location jammed up with folks looking for the fire-grilled chicken with the namesake hot pepper (peri-peri) sauce with Portuguese seasonings. Since that humble beginning, many DC and suburban outposts have opened. The Tenley Town place offers a spacious interior and outdoor seating overlooking Wisconsin Avenue traffic. And like at all its sister restaurants, service is courteous, if not really prompt, and the staff willingly recommends house favorites. Hummus with pita bread slices is certainly among them, and clever patrons will drizzle the accompanying hot sauce over the top before digging in. Sandwiches, particularly those featuring the famed roasted chicken, are prominent, but there’s a good selection of salads, too; the baby arugula and shredded grilled chicken is a winner. Don’t skip desserts, which include carrot cake, dulce de leche cheesecake and chocolate spoon cake. Nando's Peri-Peri sauces are available for purchase online.
