My Noodle and Bar Restaurant Review:

On Monument Avenue, statues of stalwart Confederates Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson have an incongruous neighbor in this hard-to-find but worth-seeking-out eatery inspired by the noodle shops of Asia. It’s tucked away in the basement of the hulking, stucco-clad Stuart Court Apartments. Once you descend the steep steps, you’ll enter a world of exotic yet comforting tastes with soul-satisfying soups and deeply flavored stir-fries in a variety its partners dub Asian fusion. This translates into such dishes as Wonton Noodle Soup (egg noodle soup with wonton, celery and cilantro in clear broth), Phuket Noodle (stir-fried flat rice noodle with egg, red pepper, tomato, pineapple, scallion, baby corn and fresh basil leaf) and the eponymous My Noodle (stir-fried green tea noodle with cucumber, tomato, mushroom, green onion and black mushrooms). Fresh spring rolls and sweet sticky rice can bookend a meal consumed here or to take-away. Among a selection of cocktails, beer and wine, there are a couple of sakés. Don’t be surprised if some winds up in dishes, as a “Noodle Lab” experiment featured saké udon (for those 21+). Decidedly casual, the décor possesses an air of subterranean-chic with grace notes contributed by a vintage typewriter and sewing machine collected by the owners (one of whom is a Mom’s Siam scion).
