Nooshi Restaurant Review:

The owners of downtown Chinese noodle bar and restaurant Nooshi have twinned it atop their Tash on Barracks Row. In a coolly exotic yet contemporary setting, patrons may sample the fried seven-spices tofu sticks, reminiscent of regular fries except much healthier, and also consider the unusual crispy calamari with a honey dipping sauce, and crab wonton complemented by wasabi mayo. There’s plenty of sushi, of course, but you might want to angle for main courses like the famous Big Duck, a recipe from the proprietor’s long-ago Yanyu. With that, add the spicy curry laksa, a Malaysian dish that pairs noodles, chilies and coconut milk with your choice of chicken or shrimp. Or try the “suicide curry,” so fiery that chances are you’ll cry while ordering a dessert of mango and sticky rice. Also located at 1120 19th St. NW, 202-293-3138.
