P.F. Chang’s offers an alternative Asian option to the sauce-heavy Chinese fare you’d find in a local strip mall. The open space is subtly lighted and features decorative Chinese sculptures and murals. The menu presents a sizable selection of adequately prepared and reasonably priced contemporary dishes. The wok is the star here, with the Sichuan chili-garlic chicken holding firm as our favorite. Popular Chinese plates include pepper steak and kung pao chicken, while the seafood section highlight is the Hong Kong style sea bass steamed with fresh, aromatic ginger. Like it spicy? Ask your waiter for Chang's secret hot sauce. Most entrées may come with either white or brown rice, a nice --- and healthy --- change of pace. There's a full bar churning out specialty and seasonal cocktails. An assortment of saké, beer and wine is available as well.
