THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Palazzio Restaurant Review:

Palazzio has been in Santa Barbara since 1993, formerly in Montecito, and then moved to State Street in 1998, where it has been a fixture ever since. The interior is airy and capacious, if not a bit theatrical, with a painted ceiling replicating the Sistine Chapel. Each meal begins with garlic bread --- baseball-size loads of dough with plenty of tasty garlic. Palazzio has an “honor system” in regard to house wine whereby you can fill up your glass on your own, then tell your server how many you’ve consumed. The main attractions are friendly team-style service and portions so big that even if you go for half orders you're still likely to haul some home. While the Italian fare is average, there are nice dishes, such as the “seafood con amore” of shrimp, salmon, mussels, Kalamata olives and red bell peppers mixed with spaghettini, and the baked mac ‘n’ cheese pie. For dessert, try the tiramisu --- it was once served to President Reagan. Friday and Saturday nights dinner is served until 11 p.m.
