Pat O'Brien's Restaurant Review:

The long line that you see outside Pat O’Brien’s never ends. Day and night fans throng this legendary New Orleans bar and restaurant. The flaming fountain on the cozy patio and the industrial strength signature cocktail, the Hurricane (you keep the souvenir glass), are the main draws. Drink and dine inside near the dimly lit piano bar or outside on the big, but intimate, courtyard. If the place feels a bit touristy, that’s because it is. It’s loud, fun, and the party seems endless. Crawfish cakes are only lightly fried and the garlic-infused sauce adds extra punch. Traditional dishes, such as the red beans and rice and the jambalaya, compare favorably to those offered at some of the best local Creole spots. And, yes, do sample the deep-fried alligator strips with Creole mustard sauce. The wine selection is decent, but the big attraction here is the aforementioned rum-based Hurricane, and if you favor a little vodka with your rum, ask about the “Rainstorm.” Want to see one tall chocolate cake? Just ask for the aptly named Big Chocolate Cake.
