Perched above the Original Farmers Market at Third and Fairfax, this is a pretty spot to enjoy some casual fare and cocktails in a comfortable setting after shopping at The Grove. The patio deck is a sprawling space of vivid couches, tropical foliage and big umbrellas. Al fresco dining is undoubtedly the main draw of the restaurant, though inside is also pleasant with white banquettes and pale wood. A spinoff concept of Planet Hollywood, Planet Dailies offers a menu of American standards with a California accent, so you’ll find pastas, burgers, pizzas and salads that are fairly pedestrian, but made with local ingredients. The avocado stack is a nice starter to share. Both the spinach and peach salad and the crab and lobster salad are pleasantly fresh, except for copious amounts of overpowering blue cheese. For dessert, try the iron skillet cookie sundae. The restaurant’s attached bar/lounge, Mixology101, has a handcrafted cocktail program created by mixologist Salvatore Calabrese. The elegant cocktails --- featuring elements like lemon grass, passion fruit, jasmine liquor, seasonal fruit purées and rose petals --- are by far more interesting than the food, and pretty much the best excuse to sink into the soft, tempting cushions.
