Red Egg Restaurant Review:

If you’ve had a hankering for both Chinese and Peruvian cuisines at the same time (and, really, who hasn’t?), then your prayers have been answered: enter Red Egg, a chic eatery on the cusp of where Chinatown and the Lower East Side meet serving up a long menu of Chinese classics, dim sum, and elevated Peruvian dishes. The lettuce wrap with quasi-spicy minced chicken, green peppers and celery is a refreshing starter. But eaters with a hearty appetite may want to move right to the larger dishes. The Peking duck sliders are assembled tableside, the duck carved in front of diners’ eyes and placed inside a chewy bun; the aji de gallina, a creamy shredded pork enveloped in a lettuce leaf, would benefit from a wrapping of moo-shoo-like pancakes or even tortillas. Service is attentive to the point of officiousness.
