Home cooking is on the menu at Rolando’s, where the cuisine is classic Cuban, like picadillo (ground beef cooked in a spicy tomato sauce with potatoes, olives, raisins, potatoes and black beans), or caldo gallego soup with beans and greens. The specialty is paella Valenciana, a traditional dish of yellow rice and seafood including shrimp, lobster, fish, scallops and clams plus pork, chicken and ham. Fried pork chunks are also hard to resist. You need to call at least an hour in advance for the paella, for a minimum of two diners. Wash it all down with the homemade sangría.
