Sea Porch Restaurant Review:
While this may be one of the on-site restaurants for the Loews Don CeSar Hotel, the menu stands on its own, and the openness of the venue, with its garden-like setting and view of the Gulf of Mexico, makes it worthy regardless of its location. Two sides of the restaurant face outdoors, and on a typical Florida day the sunlight pours in. Breakfast is buffet style Saturday and Sunday, or from the menu; the buffet comes with the standard eggs-bacon-pancakes options plus a well-stocked omelet bar. For lunch, we suggest the grilled mahi mahi sandwich with coconut slaw. The dinner menus feature a variety of American items, from thin-crust pizzas to chilled peel-and-eat shrimp. Appetizers have a couple of surprises, including pan-roasted wild black mussels with roasted garlic jus and Asiago. Entrées can be East-West fusion and creative --- try the five-spice crusted Gulf Coast snapper, served with a bonito broth, soba noodles and Asian vegetables. In a comforting vein, the best of the dessert list is a warm apple tart with cinnamon ice cream, or there's the Uncle Andy's homemade sundae, concocted from ice cream made on the premises.
