Shanghai Garden Restaurant Review:

Pink linens and crowded Lazy Susans set the table for family-style meals in a classic Chinese restaurant. But chef Hua Te Su, who apprenticed in Taipei, doesn’t restrict himself to tradition. His distinctive chow mein comes with an option of rice, corn or barley green hand-shaved noodles. Doughy dumplings are filled with a combination of minced pork, shrimp and crab. Must-have dishes include bamboo fungus with green cabbage, pea vines with black mushrooms, and deep-fried scallops or shrimp. At lunch, we suggest ordering the crispy orange beef with brown rice. For dessert, try one of Su’s unusual seasonal ice creams, which can range from honeydew melon to sour plum.
