Squid's Restaurant Review:
Squid’s seafood eatery has been in business in Chapel Hill for more than two decades. The simply decorated dining room and bar, with walls displaying whimsical “fish art,” attract repeat customers for fresh oysters on the half shell, crispy fried squid rings, shrimp and scallops, and creamy lobster bisque. More exotic fare --- horseradish-crusted tilapia, shrimp fra diavolo and bouillabaisse --- shows chef Andy Wilson’s culinary range. We also recommend the simple broiled lobster with drawn butter and mashed potatoes. Nightly specials may include a seared mahi tostada with jalapeño-lime slaw or shrimp and locally made Italian sausage in a fresh tomato sauce on house-made pappardelle. Follow up with seasonal desserts such as blueberry-peach crisp or the ever-popular mud pie. On the small but well-chosen wine list you’ll find plenty of appropriate choices for the menu, including many by the glass.
