Sushi Zone Restaurant Review:
On a side street called Pearl is a real pearl of a sushi bar where regulars line up half an hour before opening for one of 16 seats at the bar and two booths. The Zone is set apart by pristine fish lovingly sliced by owner Kimiaki Ayoma, and wonderful baked delicacies like spicy mussels served in the shell with mayo-garlic sauce; and sea bass and mango (also served in a mussel shell) topped with tobiko and lemon wedges, which add a nice tang to the salty-sweet concoction---all done with just a good knife, a sink and a toaster oven. Don’t miss the spicy scallops or the fresh hamachi, salmon and maguro. There’s nothing fancy about this sushi spot---it’s all about the fish---and that’s what we love about it. Be sure to stop by the ATM---they don’t accept credit cards.
