Tenzan Restaurant Review:
The Zen-like atmosphere in this midtown Japanese eatery highlights the sushi and other specialties. The service also adds to the overall ambience, as does the water gently trickling over sandstone walls, glass accents, and intimate booths. A sushi bar in the rear provides a welcome backdrop for nicely rendered rolls. Start with the clean and subtly aromatic king crab leg and mushroom soup; the harumaki, a crispy and spicy pork spring roll arranged like a pyramid on the plate, contrasts nicely as an accompaniment. Follow these with the mango shrimp roll: the sweet and slightly tart, finely chopped mango complements the light flavors of the steamed shrimp. Ultimately, it’s not hot or cold appetizers, or sushi or entrées, but more a combination of these creatively prepared offerings that make for an optimal dining experience at Tenzan.
