Thalia Sushi Bistro & Lounge Restaurant Review:

On weekends, in particular, it’s hard to get a table. But who could have known such a tiny place would create this hullabaloo? Rustic wood and swirls of ironwork make it feel organic and comfortable; fuzzy roll pillows lining a banquette exude hip flair. A number of private dining rooms augment the seating arrangement. The kitchen, which is located one floor up, churns out a massive array of Asian dishes, touching on enough cuisines to be dizzying. To our delight, it most often succeeds. Pleasantly toothsome roti canai --- wedges of Indian bread with full-of-depth yellow curry for dipping --- has an unforgettable quality. River Boat noodles, a brothy concoction popular along the Bangkok canals, is aromatic and herb-specked like pho, while steamed banana blossom mixed with shredded chicken, shrimp and red onion is as appealing as it gets. Since it opened, the restaurant has expanded its menu to include sushi, from build-your-own maki to bento boxes. Cheap drinks specials lure a happy hour crowd.
