This friendly, if somewhat noisy, neighborhood café serving classic Italian dishes with imaginative twists has stood the test of time. It's also a fun destination for drinks and small plates. Risottos and pastas are probably the most interesting options, with innovations such as the house-made brisket ravioli in a sage-brown butter sauce, pasta with vodka sauce and sausage, or a fresh chickpea, hedgehog mushroom and Emmental risotto. The kitchen shows a good hand with seafood, or try the pork chops with sautéed collard greens, bacon and spätzle. For dessert, be indulgent and order the crème caramel or the banana cream pie. Bartenders offer friendly chats and appealing drinks, many with Italian influences, such as a Negroni or an Amalfi made with limoncello. There's a decent international wine list, too.
