Union Bar & Kitchen Restaurant Review:

This 64-seat eatery is tucked away in the Hudson Square part of SoHo. It’s worth a jaunt, though, as chef Jonathan Renert does an admirable job in the kitchen, particularly when it comes to seafood dishes, of which many have a south-of-the-border slant. Start with the lightly fried, panko-encrusted oysters or the delicate hamachi tartare before moving on to The Chronic, two grilled or fried fish tacos topped with a spicy guacamole slaw. Tender hanger steak is imbued with a tangy chimichurri sauce and will satisfy any steak craving. Dessert really shines with dishes like ancho chili brownies and peanut crunch chimichangas. There are a handful of signature cocktails and beers on tap as well as a nice list of affordable wines by the glass, with numerous choices under $10.
