Village Corner Restaurant Review:

A staple, this Carmel charmer draws the old-timers on desolate weekdays to support one of the few remaining original structures in town. Weekends pack in out-of-towners who find the low ceilings, sunny décor and curb seating appealing. The menu has evolved far from the mainstays of the 1940s, though, and we think it's for the better. Dinnertime features dishes such as pistachio-encrusted salmon and tandoori-spiced rack of lamb. Where Village Corner turns a corner is its simple breakfast (try the calamari steak and eggs) and lunch menus (we suggest the Monterey Bay sand dab sandwich), best enjoyed on the heated outdoor patio next to the fire pit. The patio is dog-friendly, too.
