Popular for its wine tasting experiences in the restaurant and its companion wine and gourmet foods shop, Pam Ledbetter's Wahoo! Grill stays busy most evenings. In addition to the comfortable, intimate dining room, the sheltered patio is available for the majority of months in the year. We suggest starting with the flash-fried pimento cheese fritters or the crab bisque. Well-prepared standards include scallops and classic fried chicken with pork-flavored braised collard greens and mashed potatoes. Chicken is from north Georgia's Springer Mountain. Try the New York strip steak from North Carolina's Brasstown Beef. Desserts are more comfort fare, such as the familiar bread pudding glazed with Kentucky bourbon. With the addition of the adjacent wine store and the restaurant's reputation for wine events, the list is expanded with more interesting options from a variety of wine-growing regions. Dessert wines are not overlooked, and there are half bottles.
