This lush garden verandah on Sunset Boulevard is a modern sanctuary for tea, hookahs and Mediterranean cuisine. As soon as you walk in, you feel like lounging, whether inside on the sleek white banquettes amid burnished teak floors and Middle Eastern antiques, or along the airy verandah, hung with swooping white panels and Moroccan lanterns, and lined with pillowed sofas. Within the hybrid tea room and hookah lounge (depending on the time of day), you’ll find a languorous afternoon crowd or a hot Hollywood nighttime scene. The mood is ideal for sharing small plates. The grand mezze sampler features a subtly smoky baba ghanouj and a fresh tabbouleh with green flavors punctuated by sweet pomegranate, alongside meat dolmas and falafel. Sandwiches and Lebanese flatbreads are available, as are entrées like lamb tagine, Arabic seven spice braised short ribs and an array of kebabs. Accompany bread pudding or baklava with something from the tea menu, which ranges from select black tea with rose and lemon verbena prepared tableside to Moroccan mint and Masala chai.
