Merida's Restaurant Review:

This longtime family-owned restaurant on the eastside of downtown serves up basic Tex-Mex in a room with kitschy Mayan décor. Lunch and dinner exposes standard combo and enchilada plates making the real draw the daily breakfast. Try the huevos con chicharron, two eggs scrambled with crunchy Mexican pork skins with ranchero sauce served with beans and a side salad. Or indulge in the barbacoa breakfast plate. Made from cow or goat heads steamed in banana leaves, barbacoa can be an acquired taste, but done well as it is here, it’s a spicy alternative to breakfast sausage. The plate comes with pinto beans and Mexican breakfast potatoes. Add a cup of strong coffee and you’re good to go for the day.
