THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mexicano Restaurant Review:

Chefs Ramiro Arvizu and Jaime Martin Del Campo (La Casita Mexicana) bring their authentic Mexican flavors and heirloom recipes to the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw shopping center. An attractive, sprawling room has a luxe hacienda feel with gold- and azure-tiled floors, dramatic lighting and striking displays of Mexican art. Floor-to-ceiling windows look onto a verdant patio, a lovely spot to nibble on tequila-infused guacamole or citrusy fresh ceviche, and sip craft cocktails like the "Placero" (mezcal, lime, hand-crafted cactus syrup and chicharron salt rim). Fans of the personable chefs’ landmark Bell restaurant will find its beloved specialty chile en nogada --- a poblano chile stuffed with ground pork, dried fruits, walnuts and candied cactus, finished with pecan cream sauce and pomegranate --- available on weekends. Don’t miss some of the best mole in L.A., served with chicken, pork or enchiladas; the family recipe of the poblano mole uses 46 ingredients, the pepian boasts a nutty pumpkin seed and chile profile, and the mole verde is delicately fragrant. Impress your date by requesting made-to-order tamales wrapped in banana leaves from the “secret menu,” topped with mole or a silky chicharron in salsa verde. The three-cheese flan is worth every calorie. Service is friendly.
