What is perhaps the smallest sushi bar in San Diego County serves as the centerpiece of this compact and affordable Japanese restaurant on the edge of downtown Carlsbad. The sushi chef devotes considerable attention to attractive presentations of his fresh seafood, and the kitchen does a good job with such classics as beef and chicken teriyaki, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and stir-fried yakisoba noodles, as well as less typical choices like Japanese-style barbecued beef ribs and sesame chicken. Try the "Mikko Boat" --- a medley of beef, chicken and salmon teriyaki with barbecued ribs, tempura and California rolls. And it all tastes even better with a Kirin or Sapporo.
