Mission Cheese Restaurant Review:
Mission Cheese has one goal: to celebrate American artisan cheese. It's a small piece of cheesy heaven on busy Valencia Street, a good place to stop for lunch, light dinner or a between-meal cheese pick-me-up. Much like a modern cheese cave, Mission Cheese is cool and dark, with slab concrete floors, a small bar, a smattering of tables (inside and out) and a large blackboard devoted to what’s in stock. Try a cheese flight from California, the Midwest or Vermont. If you desire something more substantial go for a hot pressed sandwich (a.k.a. grilled cheese; we suggest burrata) and mixed greens. A short selection of wines allows cheeses to shine, but if you’d rather, there’s also artisan beer on the list. Finish things off with a coffee from Thanksgiving Coffee Roasters and a sweet/savory maple bacon biscuit, and watch the hip Mission folk stroll by. Mission Cheese also offers cheese for retail sale, in minimum 1/2 pound pieces, with one of the best selections in the city.
