![]() : Just as natives of Provence might do when dropping by their village bistro for a bite, locals don't feel compelled to dress up for this neighborhood mainstay. But its rich wood-clad walls, handsome table settings and a small galaxy of crystal chandeliers do provide a touch of romance in the dining room. Those hungry for the steeped-in-olive-oil cooking of Provence will feel right at home, with dishes like niçoise salad, New York steak tartare, and a garlicky roast chicken. You'll also find traditional French onion soup and escargots de Bourgogne, duck confit and classic versions of steak frites and grilled lamb chops. There are always some nice pastas available, like a light angel hair with tomatoes and garlic. Many guests opt for the fine chocolate soufflé to finish. The wine list may be a bit pricey for a Valley bistro, but it offers some intriguing options and an occasional value. |
