THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Molly’s Restaurant & Wine Bar Restaurant Review:

Molly’s is a hidden gem located on the bottom floor of the flagship San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina. The lighting is low and the décor is rich in dark woods and luxurious fabrics, making this an ideal spot for romance. Add amiable sommelier Lisa Redwine and chef Timothy Au to the equation, and you’ll understand the appeal. The menu makes good use of local produce as well as gourmet meats and seafood. Start with the diver scallop appetizer with roasted forest mushrooms, truffles and creamed leeks. The lobster risotto deftly pairs persimmon and parsnip with sweet lettuce. The caraway-crusted ahi is served rare and comes with sides of potato-fennel purée, pomegranate and caviar vinaigrette. Don’t miss the double-cut Niman Ranch pork chop with local apple confit and broccoli rabe, or the dry-aged Prime New York steak with potato-cheese croquettes and Brussels sprouts. The Sonoma duck two ways combines confit and breast meat with Satsuma tangerines, braised butternut squash and aged Pecorino cheese. Be sure to save room for the impressive tableside presentation of bananas Foster. The wine list is comprised primarily of new-world selections, with a few old-world Cabernet-based bottles in the mix. Redwine also features a signature drink, the Boa (Domaine Carneros sparkling wine, Elysium Black Muscat and Aqua Perfecta raspberry liqueur).
