Monell's Restaurant Review:
Monell's in Nashville's historic Germantown neighborhood serves Southern- and family-style food at its finest. The two-story red brick converted home sits on a quiet street among many renovated and lovingly cared for shotgun houses. Inside, diners are seated next to each other at big, farmhouse tables. Huge mounds of cheese grits, scrambled eggs, corn pudding, smoked sausage, bacon, biscuits and their special peach preserves are graciously passed around. At lunch and dinner, you'll find daily specials such as meatloaf, pulled pork and fried catfish on Saturdays. Fried chicken is served with every meal here, and it's well worth saving room for a piece. Night owls will appreciate the "Midnight Country Breakfast" served every Saturday night from 12 a.m.-3 a.m.
