Moray's Restaurant Review:
Moray's at Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa offers a tropical-inspired setting for drinks or a casual meal. The interior has several tables and a bar facing a saltwater aquarium filled with exotic fish, while outside there's a torch-lined patio with palm trees and views of Mission Bay. Executive chef Steven Riemer's menu presents some of the same items found at Oceana Coastal Kitchen next door, such as the flatbreads and signature swordfish torta on a toasted Mexican bun. Desserts include a baked-to-order brownie served in a skillet with vanilla ice cream. Among the cocktails, which are all also served at Oceana Coastal Kitchen, we recommend the Moray's Mai Tai made with Captain Morgan White Rum, apricot brandy, orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine and a float of Myers's Rum. There are also local craft beers, including Oceana Pale Ale, a custom brew made in collaboration with Karl Strauss Brewing Company for the resort. Happy hour is offered daily from 3 p.m.-6 p.m., featuring $5 craft draft beers, $6 glasses of house wine, $5.50 well cocktails and $10 flatbreads and dishes from the “share” section of the menu.
