THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Moroni & Brother’s Pizza Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Just when you think that the local pizza wars couldn’t be more competitive, along comes this little eatery in the Shaw district way up Georgia Ave. But don’t let the name fool you: this restaurant offers much more than pizza, though theirs ranks high among the pizza movers in town. Take the Caprichosa pie, with its very spicy salami slices and milder cheese toppings, on a tender, thin crust; it’s a winner as it comes out of the brick oven located in the far corner. But be sure to fully explore the menu, for you will find a bewildering assortment of dishes that aren’t at all Italian: Salvadoran tongue stew shares menu space with Mexican fajitas, and that isn’t all. Moroni opens for breakfast, at which time you can tuck into such eye-openers as scrambled eggs with fried plantains and chorizo sausage with eggs. Tasty pupusas come with either cheese or pork with a side of coleslaw and tomato sauce. But if you crave something sweet, you may be disappointed by the rather odd “banana pie,” which is really a fried banana turnover.
