THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Morty’s Delicatessen Restaurant Review:

Noisy and crowded, Morty’s keeps the Krupin memory alive: Morty is Mel Krupin’s brother, and old-timers remember this key name among DC eateries. Glad are we all to find the same New York-style deli food, the same neighborly gatherings, the same cooking aromas that remind you of Granny’s kitchen, and the same overstuffed sandwiches. Best bets, of course, are the pastrami, corned beef or roast beef sandwiches, that in true Krupin style are as large as shoeboxes. If you have a hankering for diet fare---though why bother to drop in?---the kitchen offers six lo-cal platters, and more than one dozen salads. But you’ll not want to miss the matzoh ball soup, the potato pancakes, or even the chopped liver to start. Or the fish platters---nova salmon belly lox and whitefish among them---or the homemade meatloaf. And for dessert? Why, cheesecake, of course.
