Mpls Café likes it spicy. This not only applies to their liberal use of Moroccan spices and scented oils, but also to the Latin Sounds orchestra that drives the mobs to mambo. A hip and urbane hot spot on the corner of Hennepin and 11th, Mpls Café draws a crazy crowd with their French Mediterranean cuisine which celebrates the tapas of Spain, the antipasti of Italy and the infinite spices of Morocco. Not to be missed is a sassy Cuban chorizo sandwich with corn arepa, tomatoes and Dijon. The paella de Valence is not only heart-healthy, but kicks with fresh seafood flavor and Spanish spices; this is good as most of the other heart-healthy dishes are bland and boring. If you don't feel like filling up before shaking your marimbas, get the Mediterranean tapas plate with tangy tapenade and garlicky hummus. You'll find the usual and silly-named martini list at the bar, so take our advice and try one of their many ports for a change. If you're out for a serious food adventure, book their chef's table for six-eight people, set your price at $50 or more per person, and let the chef unveil a surprise meal dish by dish over the next couple of hours.
