Mulberry Restaurant Review:

Tucked away in the southwest corner of the 44-floor 360 Tower is Mulberry, a tiny wine bar. The interior of rich oak offers a warm touch, while the sidewalk tables are more in the spotlight. It comes as no surprise to discover the urban New York feel flows from partner Lawrence Bondulich, mastermind of NYC hotspots Bin 71 and Barcibo. Cheese and charcuterie accommodate groups, and toasted almonds and the house-made ricotta with cippolini onion jam are smart choices with a crisp Sancerre. A plate worth keeping to yourself is the salmon sashimi dressed with hot garlic oil and capers. With few full entrées, Mulberry sticks to easy winners, like a braised lamb potpie or a rather standard beef filet. The pommes frites, tinged golden in duck fat and served with rosemary aïoli, are always a wise choice. The venue’s calling card, of course, is its 150-plus wines. The global list presents familiar labels from top wine regions, as well as boutique, small-batch bottles. There are price points for both novices and seasoned oenophiles, and the staff is adept at recommending food and wine pairings.
