Mykonos Cafe & Taverna Restaurant Review:
The only thing missing from the ambience of Mykonos is a breeze blowing off the Mediterranean. Between the rich clay tile floors, white walls and blue accents, Mykonos exudes island charm --- as does the menu, what with tried-and-true Greek specialties like spanakopita, souvlaki and moussaka. But the extensive menu also offers some stateside curiosities, including Greek-style sausage with peppers and onions, meatballs and galaktoboureko (essentially custard-filled baklava). Likewise, the full bar dispenses Greek retsina --- the traditional resinated wine is an acquired taste to be sure, but memorable whether you’re for or against it. If all that’s not enough music to your ears, check out the taverna, with live music Wednesday through Saturday and a happy hour menu featuring everything from Greek-style pizza to burgers. Only brunch hits an off-note, insofar as it’s an all-Southwestern American affair.
