Nam Son Restaurant Review:

Situated in that hinterland east of Little Italy, south of NoLIta and north of Chinatown proper, this Vietnamese restaurant used to be a real find. It still is, but now tourists gravitate here to sit amongst the locals and slurp up pho and other delights. The warm wood on the walls and neat décor give Nam Son an inviting atmosphere. But it’s the food that brings people in. A basin-size bowl of curry, four pieces of chicken on the bone bobbing up and down in the ultra-rich red broth, is complemented by a soft baguette for dipping. Fried spring rolls, meant to be wrapped in the lettuce (burrito-style), are greasy but good enough to enjoy. If you are feeling adventurous, aim for the sautéed frogs’ legs with chili and lemon grass sauce. The extensive menu may make deciding difficult, so just close your eyes and point and you’re likely to be satisfied.
