New Krungthai Restaurant Restaurant Review:
We’ve been enjoying Krungthai since it was a hole in the wall on West San Carlos Street. The “new” version, which is about 15 years old, is in a larger location. The menu is extensive, hitting all the high points of Thai cuisine. Among the soups, the tom kha gai, or coconut chicken soup, is a good choice. We nearly always order the spicy larb, a ground meat salad available in chicken, pork or beef, but the smoky yum ma-keur, or eggplant salad with minced chicken and prawns, is well worth consideration, too. There are numerous noodle dishes, but it’s hard to beat the fresh-tasting pad thai. Satisfying curries --- we prefer the red or green versions --- and stir-fries round out the menu. There are plenty of vegetarian options. For dessert, sticky rice with mango is a specialty. The place can get crowded, and noisy, especially at dinner. Come early unless you want to wait in line. Also located in Mountain View.
