Very accessible in terms of food, which represents good old American cooking, this Reston eatery has a comfortably casual setting, with outdoor seating in good weather. Start with an order of farmer's market flatbread, an oven-baked quesadilla, or seafood and vegetable tempura. Add to that some seasonal cocktails, though perhaps not midday, and then scan the menu. Ask about a daily special, but featured entrées, which are seasonal, could include miso salmon or a heritage pork chop or even a stone-hearth pizza. Gluten-free dishes are available. Check the desserts: a Mexican hot fudge pudding cake may pop up. Choose from a lengthy wine, beer and cocktail list. Although Not Your Average Joe's is part of a large chain, there is nothing chain-like in regard to the fare or environs.
