Old School Brooklyn Restaurant Review:
Don’t be fooled by the name. Sure, there are old framed family photos cramming the walls of this Carroll Gardens restaurant, giving the impression you’re in the home of someone’s nonna. But there’s nothing particularly “old school” about Old School Brooklyn. No spaghetti and meatballs. No pastrami sandwiches. No penne alla vodka. What you will encounter is simply straight up and satisfying Italian fare. Honey-drizzled baked ricotta, tender veal meatballs, and a creamy pork pâté make for great starters. Cavatelli combines with broccoli rabe and slightly spicy sausage, and oven-roasted cod, accompanied by tomatoes and olives, offers layers of flavor. Wine, offered by the glass, is affordable.
