THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Olio e Limone Ristorante Restaurant Review:
Alberto and Elaine Morello have brought their Santa Barbara trattoria Olio e Limone Ristorante to the Shoppes at Westlake Village. The entrance is flanked by two patios, one of which is shared with neighboring sister establishment Olio Pizzeria. While the exterior has a rustic feel, the inside is more modern, with warm tones, textured walls and mirrors. The glassed-in wine display adds a sense of sophistication. There is no artwork aside from the vineyard mural in the Cucina Room, which can serve as a private dining room for up to 50 guests. Behind the bar at the front are backlit, marbled partitions that will look to familiar to patrons that have also visited Olio Crudo Bar in Santa Barbara. Choose from a variety of Italian beers, signature drinks (including barrel-aged cocktails) and a Cali-Italian wine list that's different from what's offered at the original Olio e Limone Ristorante. On the other hand, the Italian menu is essentially the same, starting off with the popular eggplant "soufflé" with a center of goat cheese served alongside tomato-basil sauce. Daily specials are devised according to what's available from the market, perhaps beets topped with burrata and prosciutto. Continue with homemade pastas or the shrimp, scallops and calamari risotto dyed black with squid ink. Also highly recommended is the tender beef tenderloin sliced over a thin potato tart with arugula, shaved Parmesan and truffle oil. End on a sweet note with panna cotta or Leo Leo Gelato, which is handcrafted in Paso Robles.
