Charles Phan's Out the Door mini-chain of gourmet, take-out Vietnamese restaurants includes this location on Bush and Fillmore in the Fillmore District. (The second location adjoins his Slanted Door inside the Ferry Building; a third former location inside the Westfield shuttered in 2011.) Vietnamese breakfast is a specialty, including items such as beef pho, chicken porridge and steamed buns served alongside American offerings like seasonal pancakes and egg scrambles. An extensive international wine list accompanies an ever-changing East-West menu, on which Niman Ranch meats are used in lunch and dinner entrées of short ribs, pork chops and beef carpaccio.
