P.F. Chang’s has become a standard mall dining option throughout the U.S. The La Jolla location is a bit different in that it caters more to the business-lunch set, but the menu still satisfies UTC shoppers willing to cross the busy street. Lettuce rolls and crab wontons are available from coast to coast, but we also recommend the Szechuan green beans with pickled vegetables and garlic, the spicy ground chicken with eggplant, and the Chengdu---wok-caramelized lamb with cumin, mint, tomatoes and onions. For a dynamite dessert, try the banana spring rolls, which are warm, crispy bites of banana served with coconut-pineapple ice cream and drizzled with caramel and vanilla sauces. Although the P.F. Chang’s menu is not revolutionary, it does offer dependable Chinese fare for on-the-go diners.
