Ken Boxer scored an immediate hit when he opened on Coast Village Road in 1993, and crowds still line up outside. Portions are so big that even if you go for half orders you're likely to haul some home. Boxer's critics sneer that it's quantity over quality, but when he opened a second Palazzio in downtown Santa Barbara, it was just as popular. Our favorite is the angel hair pasta with shrimp, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and white wine butter sauce, and the fusilli pasta with roasted eggplant, Gorgonzola, pine nuts, roasted red peppers and creamy gorgonzola sauce.
