This Stanford Shopping Center location of the Palo Alto original is a locals' favorite. Burgers are winners, and already-thick milkshakes become straw-stoppable upon request (ask for extra thick). Sandwiches, melts and classic American plates are available, along with a complete breakfast menu. Dine in an old-fashioned booth, outside on the patio, or take advantage of counter service 1950's style. Don't skip dessert. The pies and cakes are high and wide. Banana cream pie sells out frequently. A good spot to work off a shopping-induced appetite, or worthy of a visit in its own right.
