Patrick's Bar Vin Restaurant Review

About the restaurant and décor: Oenophile Patrick Van Hoorebeek was well known to New Orleanians as sommelier and manager in some of the city’s finest dining rooms. It came as no surprise when he opened one of New Orleans’s most upscale wine destinations. Rich wood paneling, artisan lighting and clubby, leathery furniture are complemented by oversize windows that capture a view of a busy French Quarter street.

About the food and drinks: Comestibles are limited to cheese and charcuterie platters. Van Hoorebeek's wine list, while not the most extensive in town, is well thought out. Several wines on the list are not exactly rare; for instance, most of the Champagnes are the familiar large house brands with one exception, the fine Boizel Brut Rosé. Beers and signature cocktails also are available. The room is as elegant as its host, and the vibe is strictly upscale.
