THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Pearl Restaurant Review:
This French restaurant, with a beachfront location and outdoor tented seating, might do well to strive for a more casual, less fussy ambience. The menu, which features ever-changing specials, includes a variety of staple dishes that involve heavy saucing. Dinner begins with complimentary pork rillettes, an odd, dry spread that fails to interest. First courses include a rich Champagne-and-oyster stew, a seafood napoleon, and a perky tomato-goat cheese pesto tart. Entrées lean toward traditional dishes like coquilles St-Jacques, rib-eye au poivre, etouffée, veal scaloppine, and more. Nightly fish specials may feature escolar or tilefish. Desserts include crème brûlée, a chocolate pyramid and a passion fruit-raspberry mousse with crème anglaise. Sunday mornings feature a fairly traditional brunch menu.
